Introducing Car Sharing

The city-smart alternative to owning a car is called Car Sharing. You get the benefits of mobility with none of the hassles and commitments of “having a car.” Car Sharing = Freedom + Mobility.

Years ago owning a car was a social status symbol. Today many would consider car ownership more a liability both in terms of impact on the environment and one's wallet. If you don't really need one to get from A to B, and really are not convinced that the auto ads on television are complelely genuine, why would one bother? Still our cityscapes and lifestyles often require vehicle mobility – there's no doubt about it. Enter Car Sharing – an environmentally- and economically-friendly way to get around.

CarShareHFX is a service that provides individuals, families, businesses, organizations and government departments with easy, self-serve access to a fleet of vehicles on an hourly or daily basis 24/7/365.

Car Sharing for HRM is designed to complement existing modes of mobility, such as walking, cycling and scootering, taxis, ridesharing and carpooling, rental cars and Metro Transit. By reducing our dependency on individually owned motor vehicles, the Car Sharing system can reduce traffic congestion, emissions and save members lots of money.

CarShareHFX is a self-serve system. Members access cars with an electronic key (efob) at any time via a state-of-the-art reservation system. Reservations can be made online or by phone. CarShareHFX vehicles are located throughout HRM neighbourhoods and business districts typically no more than five to ten minutes away.
