Household Membership
for individual and family errands and tasks, for independent contractors and professionals for business trips. First full year: $50 Application + $200 Annual Membership OR a $99 Trial: $50 Application + $49 3-month Membership (after rebate).

Driver’s Records

We must review your driver's record for the last three years. Our insurer insists. See the Criteria for Drivers just to the right.

Atlantic Canada: If in the last three years you have only had a drivers license from NS, NB, PE, and/or NF, we’ll check your records. We’ll email you as soon as we’ve reviewed them - allow one or two days, but sometimes you’ll hear from us within the hour.

Drivers Licensed Elsewhere can join if now or in the last 3 years you have or had a license in another province or country. Our insurer has final word on which drivers records we can accept. We can’t get your non-Atlantic Canada driving records. You have to do it, here’s how.

Orientation

CarShareHFX members start with a 30-minute orientation where you gain familiarity with the online reservation system and our cars. Everything is explained and we answer any questions you might have. You will be notified as soon as your membership application is approved and can set up a convenient time to drop by our office to collect your start up package and key fob. We are happy organize in-house orientation sessions for Workplace accounts with multiple drivers.

Pay & Drive!

You may pay by credit card or with cash/cheque. A $250 deposit is required for members paying cash. Both cash and credit card customers may elect to prepay for driving hours.

Criteria for Drivers

Our insurance company requires that drivers must:

1. Be at least 21 years-old.

2. Have held a valid drivers license for at least 3 years running.

3. Currently hold a Nova Scotia Class 5 license or an equivalent.

4. Have NO speeding convictions 40 km above speed limit within last 3 years.

5. Have a maximum of four (4) minor driving infractions within the last 3 years (6 points maximum).

6. Have NO MORE THAN one (1) at-fault accident in the previous five years.

7. Have NO careless driving or criminal charges.
