We have had a very successful first year as CarShareHFX's introduction to Halifax was supported by founding members, community and mobility partners and early adopters. Now, the growth of CarSharing in the Maritimes is being fueled more and more by organizations and corporations. 
These represent some of the most progressive organizations in Atlantic Canada. As such they deserve recognition for modeling good business practice.

Yes! Free parking on the Waterfront!
The big news is this! Colin Maclean, CEO of the Waterfront Development Corporation Ltd. announced on December 4th at our first anniversary party that all CarShareHFX vehicles can park for free on all their lots (as a year long pilot project). This is just a small part of the corporation's efforts to create and nurture truely meaningful public space on the waterfront. What a plus for CarShareHFX members! Colin's announcement underlined environmental considerations, the potential positive impact of CarSharing, and the challenges of waterfront development in the face of climate and potential sealevel change. Wasn't that a Party!
For CarShareHFX's first anniversary we had a wonderful celebration with over 60 members, friends and supporters attending, cake, door prizes (thanks to Bib n Tucker, Symphony NS, JazzEast, The Hub), appies from Local Source, and powered by Bullfrog Power. Thanks also to our dealer friends Sean O'Regan (O'Regan's Toyota) and Mike Velemirovich (Hillcrest VW) for their congratulations ad in the Metro News "green edition" on December 4th. We also had some media time in the Chronicle Herald Business section, and Shannon Parker, a Founding member, spoke about the value of her membership with great enthusiasm on CBC radio "Mainstreet". |

Winter tires, Parking ban...
It s a good time to join CarShareHFX. Unlike most car rental agencies we have winter tires on all our cars. The famous parking ban is on and the scramble to find parking is always a pain. The solution? CarShareHFX's cars are parked close to you, you have car mobility without having to look after it... including a nightly parking spot. |
